About

At the age of 17 our co-founder, Reneé Rose was kidnapped at gunpoint. She was able to survive based on concepts from the Survive, Escape, Resist, Escape (SERE) training learned from her father, career Naval Officer and Federal Law Enforcement (National Nuclear Administration & Countermeasures). The experience inspired the creation of the Shaan Saar Group and Shaan Saar Krav Maga as well as her career path in Criminal Behavioral Psychology and Defensive Tactics.

We believe that learning to navigate new-found independence shouldn’t be a scary list of dont’s, rather an opportunity to change the narrative of identity and gender violence by learning a comprehensive skill set of active bystandership, violence indicators and situational awareness, conflict communication and physical preparedness with concepts rooted in the most efficient system of self defense in the world; Krav Maga.

We strive to educate, empower and equip our young people with the knowledge necessary for not only personal safety but self-advocacy and an understanding of navigating administrative and legal systems should they ever experience violence.

UNLIKE MARTIAL ARTS FACILITIES OUR EDUCATORS ARE PROFESSIONALS IN THREAT MANAGEMENT, CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS & SECURITY CONSULTING

Orientation, rush, dorm living, new, fast paced schedules and immersing oneself in a brand new world of social exposures. Living away from home for the first time is an exciting time for young people. The sights, sounds and opportunities can overwhelm the senses and frequently put us into a position where we let our guard down and don’t recognize the signs of potential threat.

We’ll teach your student to create strong neural pathways that will allow ones physical body to respond productively and efficiently in the event of physical threat; even if they don’t see if coming. They’ll learn to identify physiological and psychological indicators of danger and examining their own personal window of tolerance for boundaries and consent. But personal safety isn’t just a physical response. They’ll leave with the knowledge that personal protection doesn’t end after a threat has been eliminated and learn to successfully and proactively navigate administrative and legal systems in order to advocate for their rights and autonomy should it ever be necessary.

Intensives run 1-2 days long (week-long, retreat and on-going packages also available) approximately 4-hours per day. Each provides comprehensive hands on physical training for defensive tactics self defense, in addition to learning modules for awareness, non-violent harassment, indicators of threat and violence, boundary setting, how to be a safe, engaged active bystander, self advocacy and more.

Modules can be integrated into student orientations, health classes and more both in-person and virtually. Contact us here for more information.
