There are over 1400 reported instances of hate crimes based on sexual orientation in the US each year. Hate related homicide of LGBTQ people increased 86% from 2016 to 2017. Keeping our community safe is what martial arts is about and Shaan Saar is committed to being a key resource for personal safety and self defense training among family, friends and allies. Our curriculum addresses not only Krav Maga training but violence prevention, setting firm boundaries, speaking with assertiveness and how-to observe situational awareness and body language as the first and best lines of defense.
Classes specifically address issues surrounding our LGBT community today. Each is geared for adults age 18+ and will cover verbal exercises, surviving knife attacks, how to escape abduction and abduction attempts, escaping from individual restraint, escaping choke holds, personal attack from strangers, acquaintances and intimates, multiple attackers, sexual assault and gun threats.
All courses are led by 3rd degree Israeli Black Belt, Krav Maga Street Defence Master Instructor Gabriel J Mora of Shaan Saar who specializes in women’s self defense. In addition to being a lifelong internationally trained martial artist with over 15 years of experience in Krav Maga, Gabriel is also a certified personal trainer with the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA).
